Hart 4 Health – The Key To Volume & Hydration

At My Botique, we understand the importance of healthy skin. As most of you are aware, Dermal Fillers can enhance your skin by increasing its volume and definition as well as restoring your youthful glow.

So how does it work?

In order to help your understanding of each of the processes, one area of dermal science has been broken down to aim you in making the right choices for your anti-aging concerns.
Made up of naturally forming sugar proteins called Hyaluronic acid, or HA’s, dermal fillers have become the answer for modern cosmetic medicine. The HA’s are moisture binding ingredients that are stored within stabilized gels to keep them in place at the point of injection, adding volume and structure. By surrounding and nourishing the stretchy collagen fibers within the skin, HA’s restore the skins shape after being stretched.

Anti-ageing is beyond just augmentation; it is a holistic face approach towards healthy youthful looking skin. As we age, skin moisture levels can significantly drop causing the skin to loose its elasticity and therefore exposing signs of ageing. With its unique ability to attract and retain moisture (1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid) Hyaluronic acid plays a critical role in skin health. Our skin is made up of 64% water, meaning the ability to retain this vital ingredient is key in maintaining a youthful and healthy appearance.
Hyaluronic Acid Replacement Therapy (HART) replaces lost HA to improve hydration whilst adding volume and definition, reducing wrinkles and providing a complete upper and lower face-lift. Treatments can be tailored to satisfy your specific demands such as maximize or limit volume.

Why is it important?

You wouldn’t think twice about replacing calcium for healthy bones, so why not HA for healthy skin? Water is a vital nutrient for the life of our skin cells and lack of hydration can cause dry, tight and flaky skin.

Lip Trends – Bigger, More Defined? We Have All The Answers Covered

We know how popular lip treatments are, and although a plump and full pout is desirable, a lot more goes into making sure it suits the shape of your face

Depending on what the A-listers are currently sporting in Vogue, lip fashion does change, as does the makeup and styling to go with them. While our clients generally focus on increasing the fullness of their lips, it is important to consider what is going on around the lip as well.

Sometimes increasing your lip size can actually accentuate other problem areas on your face, which may have gone unnoticed, leaving you with more obvious wrinkles or depressions. At My Botique, we love to keep up with trends while also offering a total face assessment to ensure we do what’s right for you both now and in the future. It may be that you actually need a lower face enhancement like a 6 or 8-point lift to get the natural long lasting results you desire.

There are a couple of things to consider when searching for the perfect pout:

Most people’s features vary from one side of the face to the other. Working within this balance is important to keep your natural asymmetry symmetrical.

Top and bottom

Balance is the key and one size does not fit all. While we may think a 60/40 or 70/30 split will work for everyone it doesn’t always work that way.

Vermillion border/Cupid’s Bow

You may have plenty of volume already, however, lack definition. Therefore, treating your borders is often the key to enhancing natural volume.

Oral commissures/ DAO muscles

DAO muscles have a downward pulling effect and need consideration. If they are too strong it will create shadowing in your oral commissures and the weight of new lips will only create more hollowing, requiring treatment later. They can be treated with an anti-wrinkle solution and filler while working towards your ideal lips.

Nasolabial folds/ Marionettes

Although marionettes (also known as smile or laugh lines) are usually considered desirable, they can be exacerbated by enhanced lips. If they join with nasolabial folds and create an outer accordion line then that it takes the focus away from the lips and should be considered during the initial consultation.

We also need to think about vertical lip lines, hydration, the mentalis, the cheeks, the mid-face, neck and jaw area and how they relate to your new and desired lips.

So, yes we can make your lips bigger, but it is everything else we do that will make your overall appearance that much better.

Anti Wrinkle Treatments – Soften, Not Freeze! Which is Right for you?

As we age our skin tone can become more uneven and fine lines start to appear. Although ageing is a natural process, it can be accelerated by sun damage, pollution and other lifestyle factors which contribute to the deterioration of the skin’s collagen, the natural protein that helps the skin to remain plump and wrinkle free.

Don’t dismay though… there is a solution! Did you know you can reverse the signs of ageing and recapture your youth with anti-wrinkle injections? My Botique offers preventative solutions for those wishing to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that can last for up to six months!

The Rule

We are cosmetic injection specialists and we take pride in YOUR appearance. We’ve made it our duty to ensure you look your very best in the safest, most natural way possible.
When considering anti-wrinkle treatments, we suggest you go by the two out of three rule. This two out of three guide was designed as a balanced approach for tackling three common dynamic wrinkle areas of your face, leaving natural, beautiful results.

The Effects

The most common areas wrinkles appear are the forehead, frown line, and crow’s feet. When you think about it, these three areas carry a heavy burden as they contain all the muscles used to control our facial expressions. Whether we are constantly smiling, worried, sad, or peeved (or for some of us – all four seasons in one day), these muscles are hard at work and thus, prone to wrinkles.

By limiting treatments to two of these three areas at any one time, your results will reflect a well-balanced, natural look. My Botique recommends altering the combination of treatments throughout the year.

The Results

It’s important to monitor and regulate the different wrinkle zones in a natural and effective way. Anti-wrinkle treatments aren’t a one-trick pony; not only do they reduce wrinkles, they also help contour and sculpt your face. They can even be used to treat hyperhidrosis for those of us who suffer from excessive sweating. A perfect treatment to consider with balmy summer nights just around the corner!

Platelet-Rich Plasma – Injections, Vampire Facials and More

Blood and its healing properties have been commonly used since the Middle Ages. A relatively new injectable treatment, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), is producing amazing results on a variety of age-related skin conditions.

The Process

Bio-stimulation of the cells of the dermis (the layer of skin under the epidermis or outer layer) with the patient’s own bio-active platelet rich plasma (PRP), including leucocytes. The aim of these injections is to stimulate and regenerate aged and damaged skin and to produce a new dermis.

The Discovery

PRP’s aesthetic use was – like many great scientific discoveries – almost an accident, as the treatment was initially developed to treat soft tissue and bone injuries and stimulate healing. Similar to the case of Botox before it, which was developed to treat crossed eyes, excessive blinking, excessive sweating, and other conditions.

New uses

New methods of using PRP with positive results are being discovered at a rapid pace, including combination treatments like the Vampire Facial. These facials use skin needling to create controlled trauma and collagen remodeling, and introduce plasma, which is rapidly absorbed into the skin increasing the healing response and adding the patient’s own growth factors for maximum results.

Cosmetic uses

Some of the many ways PRP can be used include cosmetics, such as the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, facial rejuvenation, improvement of skin’s tone and texture, and it can be used in a variety of areas including the face, décolletage and backs of hands. Also, a particularly promising area is the treatment to help stimulate regrowth in hair loss in males and females.

How it works:

The beauty of PRP is that your own blood is used, so there is no risk of infection or allergic reaction. When the PRP is injected into the skin, the rate of healing and tissue restructuring is increased. Described simply, the treatment involves extracting a small amount of the patient’s own blood which is then centrifuged and put back in the patient’s desired treatment areas. From the centrifuged blood of the patient, plasma is obtained, with platelets and white cells separated from the red cells by a gel. The plasma is what is injected back into the patient.

The actual process is called autologous cell regeneration.

We recommend a healthy diet and moderate exercise the day before and day of the treatments to ensure your blood is clean, healthy and ready to serve you!

Dermal Fillers: The Best Anti – Ageing Secrets Revealed

Let’s talk about skin; it’s a pretty big deal in everyone’s lives, as it’s the largest organ in the body comprising about 15% of the body weight. It should be at major priority to strive for a healthy lifestyle, yet is largely overlooked. We spend money on good foods, hair, nails, makeup, perfumes, the gym, fashion, protein shakes, nutrition, weight loss, vitamins, vitamin drinks, water, Pilates, cleansers, juices and the list goes on and on. We spend this money all to look and feel better about ourselves and the world we live in. But what about the organ we essentially live in? What is the annual budget we spend to protect it, nourish it and keep it healthy and functioning to the best of its ability? Maybe a few hundred dollars on skin creams? Some facials maybe? Not even $10 a week! How much do your gym membership and supplements cost each year? Not to mention the gym wear!! Let’s not even go there ladies!

Dermal Fillers – most effective way to nourish your skin

Now, high-grade cosmeceuticals are definitely a great option for maintenance, however, many of these will not penetrate into the dermis to truly nourish your skin. Most of the time the molecules within these creams are too large to penetrate past the epidermis and make their way down to where it’s actually needed the dermis. Modern cosmetic medicine has found the answer is using dermal fillers, which are predominantly made up of naturally forming sugar proteins called Hyaluronic acid, or HA’s. Roughly 50% of the Hyaluronic Acid in our body is found in the skin.

HA and collagen – essentials for your skin health

HA and collagen are vital to maintaining the skin’s layers and structure.
It is the collagen that gives the skin its firmness but it is the HA that nourishes and hydrates the collagen. Imagine the collagen as the stretchy fibres that restore the skin back to shape when stretched. Collagen is like a rubber band, but stretch that rubber band a million times, like what we do with to our skin and without any moisture, and eventually, that rubber band gets overstretched (saggy) and dried out, and will most likely break. This is much the same way the collagen in our skin reacts, leaving our skin in need of moisture. Now, imagine that same rubber band stretched a million times while under water the whole time. Chances of that rubber band drying out and breaking are minimal. Consider the Hyaluronic Acid as the water that keeps the collagen moist and elastic. Collagen is continuously surrounded and nourished by the gelatinous HA substance.

Secrets of keeping wrinkle-free

Young skin is smooth and highly elastic because it contains high concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid, which helps skin to stay healthy. As we grow older, the body loses its ability to maintain this same concentration in the skin, as a result, the skin becomes drier. Hyaluronic acid acts as a space filler by binding to water and thus keeping the skin wrinkle-free.

Recommendations for your skin maintenance

The overall health of our largest organ is suffering, while we spend time and money on more superficial aspects of our appearance and health. It’s not to say stop doing the other things, just look at our priorities and budget and factor HA’s into our future treatment plans for our most valuable and precious asset, our skin!

We recommend, the minimum for HA replacement would be 4 to 8 ml of a skin boosting product such as vital, annually. Quarterly, skin resurfacing and controlled trauma activity such as microdermabrasion, skin needling, laser, metabolic peels, and skin tightening for continual cell regeneration, collagen growth and clarity.
Of course, sunscreen should be applied daily, we recommend TGA approved 50 plus Actinic. Available in our clinics.
