Skin Boosters are very similar to Dermal Fillers in the sense that they contain hyaluronic acid (HA) and amino acids essential to good skin health. They serve a slightly different purpose to that of dermal fillers, as they do not plump or contour the face, they simply help aid in the hydration process, which is fundamental for a youthful glow. They are often used for creepy skin and extremely fine lines.

Who can have them/who can’t?
Most of the population are suitable for skin booster treatment including those with darker skin types. This treatment is most beneficial to those who wish to improve the glow to their skin and those with acne scarring. This treatment can be used in conjunction with Liquid Gold this works particularly well for the chest area to improve creepy skin.
Post Care
Things to avoid post treatment:
- Avoid make up for 6 hours (if possible)
- Avoid exercise for the rest of the day (next morning is fine)
- No massages or facials for 2 weeks
- Avoid active products (ie vitamin A or AHA/BHA’s) for 24 hours
Risks?
With any form of injectables there carries risks. The most common side effects are bruising and swelling, and the less common side effects can include infections and granulomas. If you notice anything unusual you should contact the clinic immediately.
Preparation
Prior treatment:
We recommend ceasing any medications or supplements that may thin the blood up to 2 weeks prior to treatment. If you are on prescription medications – this must be cleared by your doctor before ceasing. Doing this will reduce the risk of bruising. Any topical retinol creams (vitamin A) should be ceased 5 days prior to treatment also. Numbing cream will be applied to the area 30 mins prior also.
During treatment:
After the numbing cream is taken off the area will be disinfected with chlorhexidine to reduce the chance of infection. Small micro punctures will be made to place the product intradermally.

- Presence of cold sores
Due to the use of needles entering the skin throughout this treatment, there is some downtime due to the risk of bruising. This bruising is usually very minimal due to small needle used and depth of injections – however this will vary from patient to patient.
Depending on the area being treated this will of course vary. For the face we recommend 1 – 2 mL’s per treatment with 2 treatments required about 6 weeks apart. A very common area that we treat with skin boosters are the hands – this requires 1mL per hand.
Results can last up to 9 months, however after the initial treatments many patients will have a top up treatment at about 9 – 12 months.
